Την τέταρτη επιλαχούσα θέση κατάταξης κατέλαβε η Τήνος στα πλαίσια του προγράμματος της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής «Ευρωπαϊκοί Προορισμοί Αριστείας» («European Destinations of Excellence» EDEN), αναφέρεται σε σχετική ανακοίνωση.
Θέμα του φετινού διαγωνισμού ήταν ο «Πολιτιστικός Τουρισμός – Cultural Tourism» για το οποίο η Τήνος αξιολογήθηκε, όπως αναφέρει στη σχετική επιστολή της προς τον Δήμαρχο η υπουργός Τουρισμού Έλενα Κουντουρά , «λόγω της πολιτιστικής αξίας των προτεινόμενων πόρων και του ιδιαίτερου ενδιαφέροντος της πρότασής σας» .
Πρόκειται για σημαντική διάκριση που συμβάλει στην ανάδειξη του σημαντικού πολιτιστικού υπόβαθρου του Kυκλαδίτικου νησιού και ανοίγει νέους ορίζοντες στη διεύρυνση του μεριδίου που διεκδικεί στη διεθνή αγορά τουριστικής ζήτησης, χάρη στο ολοκληρωμένο σχέδιο που έχει ήδη εκπονήσει και εφαρμόζεται.
Σε δήλωσή της η Αντιδήμαρχος Τουρισμού Αναστασία Δεληγιάννη εξέφρασε την ικανοποίησή της που «χάρη στις συντονισμένες προσπάθειες όλων όσων συνέδραμαν στο εγχείρημα, αναδείχθηκε και αυτή η πτυχή της Τήνου που αποδεικνύει ότι διαθέτει όλα τα στοιχεία που την κατατάσσουν ψηλά στους πολιτιστικούς προορισμούς της πατρίδας μας».
